CIF / COMMUNITY COLLEGE DECORUM POLICY
Applications for Water Polo
(Effective for the 2001 Community College Season and the 2001-2 High School
Season)
The following definition of terms shall apply:
"DISQUALIFICATION" shall apply to the removal
of a player from further participation in a game as the result of an
accumulation of personal fouls, or as a result of any other foul that requires
a game "exclusion", but is not necessarily related to behavior or
conduct. (illegal entry, leaving the water on an exclusion foul, etc.)
Players removed from the game under these circumstances
shall not fall under the CIF/COA policy for game "ejections" and the
"disqualification" shall be for that game only.
"EJECTION" shall apply to the removal of a
player for the remainder of a game for prolonged or abusive disrespect or
misconduct, fighting, brutality, etc. These
"exclusion" fouls shall be considered a game "ejection"
and shall be reported according to the CIF and/or COA guidelines with the
appropriate penalties applied.
NISCA and NCAA rules now allow the referee to award a
20-second exclusion fault to any player for "minor" acts of
disrespect.
We shall broaden the scope of this interpretation to
include "minor" acts of misconduct and unsportsmanlike conduct as
well, previously considered a game "disqualification" under the
Community College Decorum Policy.
Please note that any act of disrespect or misconduct that
is severe enough to warrant an immediate game exclusion shall be considered an
"ejection" from the game and shall be reported and punished as such.
